There is a misconception that rooms, or cabins (as sailors term it) onboard ships are small, dingy, and as far from luxurious as a cat is from a lion. However, on my recent cruise onboard the Voyager of the Seas, I shared an interior stateroom with my sister, and I found the experience to be a rather comfortable one. My parents shared an interior stateroom right next to ours.
Just so you (my dear reader) are aware, our interior stateroom was the 2nd cheapest, and it was on Deck 6 forward (bow of the ship).
The hallway leading to our rooms was rather narrow, but I suppose that can’t be helped as we were on a ship afterall. Having a carpeted walkway was a nice touch though, and I appreciated that.
Interior Stateroom (Twin Beds)
I did not really get the design intent of the porthole-like mirror on the wall behind the beds, but I found that the beds were pretty comfortable. The pillows were ok as well.
I have to apologise for the lighting of the picture below, but I could not seem to get a good picture, so that would have to do. There was even a small sofa in the room facing the TV. We did not spend much time in our rooms to watch TV, because hey we were not here to hide in our rooms, but there were some cable channels I believe.
There was also a decent ensuite bathroom. My main gripe would be that only bar soap and a liquid shampoo dispenser were provided. It would have been nice if bottled soap and shampoo were provided. Well at least soft bath towels and face towels were provided.
The interior stateroom was comfortable and large enough for 2 people. Even with both our carry-on luggages opened, we had enough space to walk around without bumping into things. The ensuite bathroom was definitely on the smaller side, but no complaints there as it was sufficient for us to do our business and wash up.
