Planet Holiday is a 3-4 star hotel that is located in Batam city, and a mere 5 minute drive from Harbour Bay International Ferry Terminal. Harbour Bay International Ferry Terminal in Batam is connected via ferry to Singapore Harbourfront Centre (link here). It is about a 45 minute journey by ferry, although do note that Singapore is 1h ahead of Batam, meaning that when traveling to Batam from Singapore, you actually gain 1h!
Deluxe Twin Room
The deluxe twin room at Planet Holiday was pretty comfortable, and was spacious enough such that there was more than ample space for 2 people. The beds were on the firmer side, and so were the pillows provided.
Some of the other amenities provided were:
- Bottled water (x2)
- Free Wifi
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, shaver, etc)
- Hair dryer
There was also a seating area and a balcony, although I did not take pictures of those. Although this room was a smoking room, there was no smoke smell in the room when we checked in. I really dislike rooms that have a strong stench of smoke, and thankfully this was not the case here.
Instead of a standing shower, there was a bathtub which came with a removable shower head. I thought that was rather good, since it gives guests the flexibility to choose whether to soak in the bath or to stand and use the removable shower head. Two thumbs up for them!
The hotel was pretty big, although I did not spend much time exploring it. There was a KTV (karaoke) lounge on the 4th floor, and a pool on the 5th floor. There was also a gym, although I did not have the opportunity to check that out.
There was also a bank (Bank Negara Indonesia) right outside the hotel, like literally a 2 minute walk from the main door.
For a short stay in Batam, I do think that you cannot go very wrong with Planet Holiday, in terms of having a hotel based in a convenient location. The room was also pretty decent, and there were street food stalls as well as MacDonalds & KFC just around the corner. The free wifi was quite fast, and easy to connect to. I would advise you to avoid paying for the buffet breakfast though, as the selection was meagre, and the food did not taste very good either. Go out and eat instead! 🙂
