Situated in the basement of Westgate mall all the way in Jurong East, Griddy is a wallet-friendly cafe that serves up a decent meal. This was my second time back at Griddy’s, having been there once before sometime last year. It seems that the menu was revamped, and there were more dishes on offer this time around.
We ordered the onion rings with salted egg yolk sauce, since we were salted egg yolk fans, and just had to try them. After biting into a warm onion ring coated with the dip, I was rather disappointed. Although the dip did taste quite salty, it did not have the same salted egg yolk oomph that I was looking for. It was however tasty enough such that we finished it all up in the end, dipping both the onion rings and the waffle fries that came with our waffle burger! The onion rings were crisp and yummy, and I would definitely have them again!
The ocean catch came next, and it consisted of a waffle wrapped around a fillet of fried fish and an assortment of vegetables (lettuce & tomatoes). The waffles was a bit too soft for my liking, but the fried fish was decent tasting when paired with the creamy sauce. I would probably try something else the next time round though. I am repeating myself here, but waffle fries were good though, and I wished that there were more to nom on!
Lastly, we had the banana craze, which was essentially a quarter of a waffle served with sliced bananas, drizzled with banana cream, and topped off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The waffle on the plate was a sad quarter of a full waffle, and was slightly hard to cut into. At least the vanilla ice cream and bananas were quite tasty.
Would I return to Griddy’s in the near future? Probably yes, since some of the other items on the menu caught my eye, and it is pretty affordable. The food is generally quite decent, although do not expect to be wow-ed by it, and you would be surprised.
