First off, I have to confess that this post is not about an actual café, but rather a humble stall in a hawker centre. That said however, it does allow you to have a taste of Bangkok without having to actually fly over.
My first thought was that it was pretty cool to serve mango sticky rice(S$5.90) in a coconut husk. My second thought was how was I going to eat this. My third thought (after taking a spoon) was I would rather this be served on a plate. The mango was sweet, although still not as sweet as those found in Bangkok. The coconut flesh was also smooth and yummy. The coconut ice cream was tasty as well, and I loved it. The disappointment came from the sticky rice, which was underwhelming. Perhaps if it were served in a plate instead, and condensed milk were poured over the sticky rice, it might have tasted better.
The mango ice cream(S$4.90) was not as tasty as the coconut ice-cream, and I would recommend that you get 2 scoops of the coconut ice-cream, rather than 1 of each.
I think that it’s a great idea to bring thai desserts to the hawker centres, and I really liked the coconut ice-cream served by Waan Waan. The mangoes and coconut flesh were also really fresh and yummy. I would have liked to try their coconut shake (S$3.50), but was really too full after lunch and dessert. Next time then!
