I personally love Taiwanese shaved ice desserts, and my favorite place to get them is at the Sanxiongmei (三兄妹) stall in Ximending, Taipei. I have reviewed that place somewhat in my travel report for Taipei, so do check it out if you have yet to!
Smoothie House is a Taiwan dessert cafe that has recently made its debut upon Singaporean shores, and I could not pass up the opportunity to check it out. It is located in the CBD area, within One Raffles Place mall, which is conveniently located right above Raffles Place MRT.
There is limited seating available, and I have heard that queues on weekdays can get rather long. However, I visited on a Saturday evening, and I was the only customer! 😛
Their signature dessert is the mango snowflake ice with panna cotta (S$12.90), and we had to get one to try.
The mangoes were sweet and huge, and the panna cotta was smooth and creamy. The shaved ice was of a good consistency, and similar to what you can find in Taiwan. Overall, a great dessert!
We also got the mix strawberry snowflake ice with panna cotta (S$15.90) to try.
The kiwis and strawberries were sour, which I did not really like. I suppose it is to balance the sweet mangoes, panna cotta, and shaved ice with condensed milk, although I would rather the fruits were all sweet. The portion felt smaller than the mango snowflake ice, and if you ask me, the mango snowflake ice was more yummy haha.
Yes for the mango snowflake ice, maybe for the mix strawberry snowflake ice. At just S$12.90 for the mango snowflake ice, it is at a way more affordable price point compared to more expensive korean bingsus (which are just another version of shaved ice desserts). I would definitely go back if I had a craving for mango shaved ice! Do bring cash/a NETS card as they do not accept credit cards (for now at least).
