I booked a table for 3 during Singapore Restaurant Week at Kuvo after reading some good reviews about the place. I decided to bring my parents out for dinner to thank them for raising me, and also as I had not given them a proper treat in a while haha. 🙂
Kuvo is conveniently situated along Orchard Road, and is right next to 313 Somerset, which is connected to Somerset MRT station. Upon arrival at Orchard Shopping Centre, it is a simple escalator ride up to Kuvo, which is on the 2nd level. We were shown to our table almost immediately upon arrival, and our table was near the windows, which meant that we had some interesting views overlooking Orchard Road.

The entrée for dinner was a carpaccio of Hokkaido scallops. They were really fresh & gave a whole new meaning to melt-in-your-mouth. Thinly sliced and dressed with yummy fish roe, they served to whet our appetites for the main course.

I chose the chargrilled ribeye steak for my main course, and requested for it to be done medium rare. Am I glad I went for the ribeye steak instead of the salmon, although I’m a salmon-lover. :p Never have I had a more tender & juicy steak before in my life, I kid you not! The port wine glaze & truffle mash paired excellently with the meat as well, although the meat was already juicy and tender enough on its own.

My parents both ordered the Norwegian baked salmon, which was pretty good as well. My mum let me try some of hers hahaha. The salmon skin was crispy and the salmon meat was firm yet juicy. The bacon barley fricasse also made for an interesting side dish to go with the salmon.

Last up of the 3-course menu was dessert! The dessert served was a deep fried mango & raspberry ice cream. We all thought that it was a decent dessert, but not particularly fantastic or memorable. The raspberry ice cream was ‘ice-y’ and quite frozen, while the mango came in the form of some mango purée, leaving us rather disappointed.

Kuvo exudes a certain elegance, and is a great place to go for dinner after shopping along Orchard Road. The service is great, and the food is of a good quality. And hey, if you feel peckish for more dessert after your meal, there’s always the small dessert counter at the front of the restaurant, where you can purchase yummy TCC desserts from. Even as I type this, I am still drooling over the yummy rib-eye steak that I had, and I will definitely have to return soon to have it again!
