I went to Bugis+ with my family last Sunday for lunch at The Pizza Collective. It’s the new kid on the block I believe, nestled in between Bonchon Chicken & Genki Sushi. This is actually an offshoot of Peperoni’s, which is my favourite go-to-spot for awesome pizzas in Singapore. 😀 Make no mistake however, you won’t be getting huge XXL-sized pizzas here, but what you will get is the ability to customize your very own pizza, Subway-style.
The concept behind this is really very simple, you pay at the kiosks, then proceed to place your order. You can either purchase a ‘Signature’ pizza, or build your own pizza. There is a decent range of ‘Signature’ pizzas to choose from, ranging from savoury (eg. rendang chicken) to sweet (eg. banana with nutella). Personally, I would go for the build your own pizza! :p
The kitchen is an open-concept one, with a huge signboard above it detailing the steps you should take.
I started off with herb dough, with the other option being the original dough. Here’s my lump of dough being pressed by this huge machine in front of me.
Here’s the Subway-like row of toppings and condiments.
I created a monster of a pizza, which was piled high with many toppings. :p Here’s my own ‘secret recipe’, Lucas-style pizza:
- Herb dough
- Red sauce (tomato-based)
- Shredded mozzarella (x2)
- Shiitake mushrooms
- Diced Chicken
- Streaky bacon
- Honey ham
- Wasabi aioli drizzle + Sea salt flakes
It not only looks good (ok that’s subjective :p), but it tasted darn good too if I might say!
I apologise for the horrible photo below, the lighting was really bad and I was trying to get my shadow outta the way grrr. But anyway, the 4 pizzas we ordered! Oh btw, each pizza is only S$12! If you want though, you could pay S$2 more for free-flow drinks (coke, sprite, ice lemon tea).
The Pizza Collective just blew Pizza Hut out of the water in my opinion. Hey, you might not agree but, give it a try, and you might see things differently after. :p If you’re in the Bugis area, and looking for value-for-money pizza, this is definitely the place to go. Actually, scrub that, if you’re looking for good pizza that is value-for-money too, head straight to The Pizza Collective! No more worrying over finding a big group to go to Peperoni’s for their XXL pizzas, just go alone and you’ll have a great meal. 😉 I’ll definitely be back soon!
