Ever heard of an edible potted plant? Well now you have! :p Fart Tartz is a small café at the Singapore Expo, and is well-known for their pretty looking no-bake desserts! Their most instagrammable one has most definitely got to be the potted oreo mud tarts hahaha. Although it can be found at the Singapore Expo, it is still a 5-10min walk (depending on your speed) from the Expo MRT station, as it is located at the MaxAtria side of the Expo.
Arriving at Fart Tartz! It’s pretty easy to find, and occupies a space opposite the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at the MaxAtria side of the Singapore Expo. Their website claims that they can seat up to 60-70 people, but I counted enough chairs for around 40. Perhaps if they rearranged the furniture and made it more compact, they could accommodate more people. Anyway, it wasn’t very crowded when I visited with my sis the other day on a weekday afternoon. I saw some students studying there as well, so I guess they do allow you to study there as long as it’s not too crowded, which is great for students! 🙂
They serve both savoury food as well as desserts, and their desserts looked really really really pretty! 🙂 On this occasion however, we were there mainly to try the oreo mud tarts!
Ordered a nutella oreo mud tart (S$5.50)! It was kinda small actually, but I guess it made up for it in its taste! The way they do it is quite cool actually, because they make the dessert in a cupcake holder, and then put the cupcake holder into the mini pot, and then layer the oreo crumbs over it (which gives the look of black soil). Oh yes, the flower is inedible, so please do not try to eat it hahaha.
Here you can see what’s underneath all that ‘black soil’ hahaha. The nutella sauce was evenly layered through the dessert (at least for this one), and overall it tasted good. 🙂
Tried one of their specialty teas as well. This was the Singapore Sling (S$4.20), which had a fruity and tangy (sour plum) flavor to it. And no it doesn’t taste like its more famous alcoholic namesake haha :p
I’ve heard that their pasta and tiramisu is quite nice as well, so I would probably come back some day to try those. I enjoyed the nutella oreo mud tart, and I absolutely loved the way it was presented! It isn’t exactly very cheap considering the portion size, but it did taste good. A bonus point would also be that the prices you see on the menu are exactly what you pay, so there is no hidden service charge or whatever to surprise you haha. Did I mention before that I like places that display the end prices up front? I’m sure I did. Hahaha so yes, this place is worth a try!
