Hi guys, I visited Santorini last August, which was a great time to do so. The weather was beautiful, although it could get rather hot haha. Then again, the Greek islands are best enjoyed when the sun is out right? :p
While in Santorini, we stayed at Firostefani, which is a 20min or so walk uphill from Fira (the main town). It suited us really well, as it was close enough to the action, yet peaceful as well. Many tourists like to stay at Fira and Oia, so these two places can get really crowded haha.
We booked a comely triple room with an en-suite toilet at Villa Fotini through booking.com, and it was very reasonably priced at around S$160 a night. The price we paid included the city tax and VAT as well yay! Rooms in the peak tourist months of July-Sep can get rather expensive, so you can see why S$160 a night for 3 people is actually rather cheap haha. There is also a great restaurant (Remvi restaurant) nearby with great views of the caldera.
The beds are not of 5-star quality, but they are comfortable enough to get a good night’s sleep on. 🙂 Towels and hand soap are provided, but shower and bath lotions are not. So do bring your own/buy some when you arrive. Our room opened out into a small patio, which was a bonus. 😉 Oh yes, there’s aircon as well! A definite must, especially since it was the hot summer month of Aug haha. While we didn’t mind getting a tan while outside, it is a different story once we’re inside the room hahaha. There’s also free WiFi, and the signal was strong throughout the property. 🙂
Some of the in-room amenities are as follows:
The host, Maria, is super friendly and provided a free pickup and dropoff service for us at Santorini Airport. We arranged everything with her through email, and it all went smoothly. She also helped us to arrange for a guided tour of the beaches around Santorini, and if you want, she has contacts for cheap 4 wheel-drive rentals as well.
All in all, it was a great place at a great price. Santorini doesn’t have to be all that expensive if you know how to find hidden gems such as these! 😉
